STEP 1

On a blank sheet of A4 paper draw a down plan/view of your kitchen making sure you include all doors (and the way they open), archways and windows.

Don’t worry too much if it doesn’t look exactly to scale, just ensure the walls, windows and doors have each measurement in millimeters as show in the picture to the left.

STEP 2

Mark on the plan the abbreviated letters in a circle for each item:

LS = Low electrical socket normally hidden behind or in the back of units to plug in appliances

MS = Middle electrical socket normally sits above the worktops for kettles, toasters, etc

HS = High electrical socket normally above or inside wall units for lights and extractors

CS = 30 Amp cooker switch/socket which normally has a large red switch

SW = Light switch

G = Current gas position for oven/hob unless you are fully electric

S = Current sink & waste position

P = Any pipework that is running from floor to ceiling. Please indicate approximate clearance

B = Base or Wall boiler. Please mark on plan height, width, depth and height from floor

R = Radiator. Please indicate the dimensions and space to the nearest wall corner

After you have completed this stage, your drawing should look something like the picture to the left:
